BE NICE

What I want to do for my senior thesis project is to promote BEING NICE! Lately I feel like a lot of people have forgotten what it means to be polite and courteous to others - especially to strangers. So, I want to do some research on why some people don’t feel the need to act nice. OR maybe some people are unaware of their rudeness. This is what I want to RESOLVE.

Some of my research will include looking at old ideas of what it means to be polite, and comparing it to how things have changed over the past 40-50 years. From this research and my own experiences, I want to let people know what they’re doing wrong, easy ways to be a nicer person, and even some big ideas for those who really wanna commit! Most of my project will be pieces advertising and encourage the BE NICE campaign (see deliverables).

PUUUUUUUNK

So, I am not personally into punk, but I also didn’t know a lot about it until now. Grunge/messiness isn’t really my style… Like at all. But I do see elements of the punk art style in things that I do like, so it’s obvious that it left its footprint in many different areas! In addition to the grungy dirty look, there is the cutout effect - which I actually like! That collage-cutout look has now evolved into something similar to the yellow image I attached entitled “Punk Marketing”. It feels a bit like the stencil look, or something that reminds me of Banksy for some reason. Even though punk started out as messy and pushing boundaries in its beginning, it seems that it has now worked its way into other styles using elements of the original style.

Senior Thesis Idea #2: VERTICALLY DEFICIENT AWARENESS
Being short is SERIOUS ISSUE. Not really, but I get a lot of flack for it and I think it would be funny to do a type of PSA thing about creating awareness about it like it’s a problem. It would include how NOT to treat short people, their daily troubles, and peoples’ personal stories and experiences.
